Clavering Lodge and Lakes

Over the last few years I have been photographing the wildlife that calls Clavering Lakes home. And despite it being a busy venue especially during the summer there is a massive abundance of wildlife.

Pyramidal Orchid
I have counted 4 species of Orchid, Primroses, Cowslips plus many other wild flowers. Bird species are numerous, including chiffchaffs, Common Terns, Tufted Ducks, Kingfishers. The Herons are frequent visitors and for me a first last night was a Barn Owl.

Mammals are also plentiful with Fallow and Muntjac deer, stoats, Hares, Foxes just a few of the species that are frequent visitors

Clavering Lodge is situated in the NW corner of Essex about 5 miles outside Saffron Walden, there is a large car park and a restaurant on site that sells exceptional local food.

Grey Heron
There are many walks around the lakes and many public footpaths so it is a great place to base yourself for the day, enjoy a fantastic meal and generally just relax the day away.

I hope to see you down there

Adrian
